Mitchell will be performing with Taylor Ho Bynum's West Coast Ensemble at the Angel City Jazz Festival. The performance is at Barnsdell Art Park in the Gallery Theater at 7pm. Bynum's group includes Jeff Parker (guitar), Michael Dessen (brombone), Nicole Mitchell (flute), Jeff Gauthier (violin), Mark Dresser (bass), Alex Cline (drums), and Taylor Ho Bynum (trumpet and composition)
October 7-12, 2014 - Nicole Mitchell's Black Earth Ensemble Residency with Ballake Sissoko at Royamount, France
Nicole Mitchell and members of Black Earth Ensemble will spend several days meeting, learning, and developing friendship and music with kora legend Ballake Sissoko and Bamako musicians. The outcome will be a new composition merging Chicago avant-garde jazz and traditional msuic of Mali.
