The Second Jazz Composers Orchestra Institute Heads West
August 7-11, 2012 at UCLA

Next week 38 jazz composers at various stages in their careers chosen from a national pool of applicants will make their way to the west coast fro the second Jazz Composers Orchestra Institute from August 7-11 at UCLA. ACO and Center for Jazz Studies at Columbia University, in cooperation with The UCLA Herb Albert School of Music, and Earshot, bring together these participants to explore the challenges of writing fro the symphony orchestra. JCOI will be led by leading composers, conductors and performers in the field such as George Lewis, Anthony Davis, Anne LeBaron, Paul Chihara, Nicole Mitchell, James Newton, Alvin Singleton and Derek Bermel.
