Mitchell's Black Earth Orchestra debuted Many Paths Meet the Sea: A Tribute to Alice Coltrane at Chicago's Millineum Park in summer 2007. Mitchell will perform it in Poland in November. Organized by the Jazz Institute of Chicago and Wojciech Juszczak, the artistic director of Estrada in Poznan, the "Made in Chicago," festival represents a broad swath of Chicago jazz history and diverse forms of the music. The musicians chosen for the festival perform up to six concerts over the three day festival in different groupings, in small and large concert halls and one jazz club. Mitchell is delighted to be invited to participate this year. Along with other activities included in her residency in Poznan, Poland, Mitchell will perform her tribute to Alice Coltrane "Many Paths Meet the Sea" on November 20th, and perform with Roscoe Mitchell's large ensemble on November 23rd.
